FAQs

Where are you based?

For Workshops, we travel around Mumbai as required and occasionally to some other cities on need basis.
Is therapy right for me?

The right therapy for you depends on your individual needs and goals. As a professional working for more than 10 years, me and other professionals like me have access to information and insight about the kind of approach that may work best. During our initial consultation, we’ll discuss your concerns and preferences to determine the most suitable therapeutic approach. From cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to psychodynamic therapy and more, I offer a range of evidence-based therapies tailored to meet your unique needs effectively. Together, we’ll find the best fit to support your journey towards healing and personal growth.

What is a therapy session like?
A therapy session typically involves open and confidential conversations with a professionally trained therapist like myself. During the session, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss your feelings, thoughts, and concerns in general, while I will listen and offer guidance and support as required.
Is medication a substitute for therapy or otherwise?

Medication is not a substitute for therapy but can be used in conjunction to enhance treatment effectiveness. Therapy focuses on addressing underlying issues and building coping skills, while medication can help manage symptoms and chemical imbalances in the brain.

I can usually handle my problems. Do I really need therapy?

Even if you’re someone who generally handles problems well, life can still throw unexpected challenges your way. It’s natural to face difficult situations that can test your emotional resilience, such as significant life changes, loss of a loved one, career transitions, relationship issues, or overwhelming stress. Individuals who are resilient can benefit from therapy to gain new perspectives and coping strategies. Therapy provides a supportive environment to explore emotions, improve self-awareness, and foster personal growth in a non-judgemental way.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, therapy is confidential.

As a mental health therapist, I am bound by strict ethical guidelines to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of all client information shared during sessions. Your trust and confidentiality are of utmost importance to me. However, there are some legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality in cases where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others. In these circumstances, you will be informed about any steps taken to involve another person. Otherwise, your sessions and personal information will be kept confidential.

What is the length and frequency of our session?

The length and frequency of therapy sessions can vary depending on your needs and preferences. Typically, sessions are around 50 minutes to an hour, and the frequency can be weekly or bi-weekly.

However, we can discuss and tailor the session length and frequency to best suit your individual situation and goals.

Can we do sessions over a video call?

Yes, absolutely! We can setup convenient and secure video call sessions. Understandably, virtual therapy allows you to receive support from the comfort of your own space, making it accessible and flexible for your busy lifestyle.

How many sessions will I need to attend?

There is no wrong answer to this question. The number of sessions needed varies depending on individual needs and goals. Some clients find benefit in short-term therapy, while others may choose longer-term support. Together, we will assess your progress and collaboratively determine the best approach to meet your unique needs.

Who should I add as an emergency contact? Is it necessary?

Adding an emergency contact is a precautionary measure but not mandatory.
While it is not a requirement, having an emergency contact can be helpful in situations where your safety or well-being may be at risk. You can choose a trusted family member, friend, or close colleague as your emergency contact. Their role is to be notified in case of a crisis or if you require immediate support during therapy sessions. Your privacy and confidentiality will always be respected, and the decision to include an emergency contact is entirely up to you.
